Join us on April 21st for the first Cyber Advisors Hack-A-Thon. Our hack-a-thon will allow you to get a hands-on experience of how hackers can access your environment if proper security isn't put into place.
No previous security, coding or operating system knowledge is required. Everyone is eligible to attend this event, not just technical people. Please bring your laptop if you have one.
A guide will be provided to each team with step-by-step directions to follow. The session will be timed and points are earned by completing individual security tasks. Some tasks are easy and will earn only a point or two, while others are fairly challenging but will earn much more and increase your chance of a win. The team with the most points (calculated by the proctors) will win a prize and named Hack-A-Thon champions.
Following the hack-a-thon, our friends at Kaspersky Lab will be presenting ways to protect your environment from ransomware.
If we had to pick a 2016 cybersecurity word of the year, it would be "ransomware." This digital form of extortion emerged as a particularly insidious threat, bringing hospitals to a grinding halt and leaving businesses trying in vain to decrypt their own files. In 2015 the number of users attacked by encryption ransomware increased by 48.3%. Why has this particular form of cybercrime become so prevalent? What can businesses do about it?. We will go through how you can protect yourselves against ransomware and the steps needed to look ahead on where it may be going.
